frequently asked questions & practice policies
What is your session fee?
Individual Adult: $175.00/session
Individual Adolescent: $195.00/session
Individual Child: $195.00/session
My fees are subject to annual increases, which I announce via written notice. I do have a limited number of sliding scale openings to be negotiated on a client-by-client basis depending on one’s financial circumstances & resources. I can also provide referrals to community mental health centers that offer sliding scale fees if needed.
Do you take health insurance?
No, I am out of network with health insurance companies. If requested, I can provide you with a monthly superbill that you can submit to your health insurance company for possible reimbursement. Please bear in mind that health insurance companies will typically require a diagnostic code on superbills.
How long are sessions? How often will we meet?
Typically, my therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length. However, the length of a session may change on a client-by-client basis; for example, a child client may only have the bandwidth for 30 minutes of a 50 minute session, or an EMDR client may need 90 minutes if reprocessing a particularly intense memory. Fees are subject to increase if a session is extended past 50 minutes.
I typically see clients on a weekly basis at minimum; the foundation of my work with clients is establishing a safe & trusting connection, which takes time & consistency. If a client is experiencing particularly stressful circumstances, I may suggest meeting more frequently depending on need.
Where/when do you offer your services? What accommodations does your in-person office offer?
I see clients in-person at my office in Old Town Pasadena (Los Angeles County) on Sundays (and at least one other day per week). I also offer telehealth sessions to residents within the state of California through my secure EHR system SimplePractice. In addition to Sundays, I work weekdays and some evenings.
My office suite is accessible via stairs or elevator; if you have any accessibility concerns, please reach out so we can discuss how I can meet your particular needs. Unfortunately, the office building does not have any all-gender restrooms at this time.
What is your cancellation policy?
I maintain a 24-hr minimum cancellation notice for sessions. If you cancel within 24 hours of a session, I charge full fee.
How long will I be in therapy?
It depends! I offer relational, person-centered therapy, meaning there is no ‘one size fits all’ template. Our timeline will depend on your therapeutic goals, what you’re needing, how you’d like to grow, our ability to establish a sense of trust & safety, and so much more. I often see clients who need a lot of time to warm up before they feel comfortable expressing vulnerability, so I always hold patience for the therapeutic process and for each individual’s unique timeline.
What will our sessions be like?
Usually, our first 1-3 sessions will consist of an intake & assessment where we discuss your goals for therapy, any relevant biopsychosocial history or past experiences you’re willing to share with me, and current stressors impacting your day-to-day life. From there, our sessions may consist of experimentation, play, explorations into what it's like to be you, and chats that help cultivate trust & rapport. Together, we can figure out what works for you and what needs adjusting.
EMDR Therapy, Play Therapy, and Talk Therapy services all look & feel different. We can talk in more detail about how our sessions can meet your unique needs during our consultation & first sessions.
I have a therapist already, but they don’t provide EMDR Therapy. Do you offer Adjunct EMDR Therapy services?
Yes! In the case of Adjunct EMDR services, I take a collaborative and team-oriented approach. I will work with you and your primary therapist to develop an EMDR treatment plan that can supplement the work you are doing in your talk therapy sessions, and maintain a steady line of communication to ensure your needs are being met effectively, safely, and ethically.
Do you have any pets?
Yes! I have a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois/Siberian Husky mix named Lyra. She’s a bit too active & excitable to join our sessions, but I will gladly show you photos if requested!
